This is like mythbusters: There are a tonne of these junky urban MYTHS about pollution like**** Farting won't harm a flea even though it is combustable in cartoons.
Here is what’s true and what’s false:
1. Farting causes Global Heat; after all, it is true that you release carbon dioxide and even a small amount of combustibles with every stinker.
2. Lets get back to ummm… more polluting issues like:
3. Coal fired power plants don’t have to be dirty, its just they’ve only built old grumpy lazy and dirty ones that automatically gave of a blackening reputation.
4. Your car is not the world’s source of pollution. Studies show cars up to 4 years old hardly release any fumes (older cars well… don’t do so good, but the majority of vehicles are in the new-5 year range in North America)
5. Incineration isn’t so bad! Maybe burning tires in your backyard was, but with modern incinerators, there are hardly any emissions! Allot less then Ontario’s ‘brilliant garbage plan’ If you wanted to know the trick: higher temperatures lick the dirt out of emissions.
6. Turning your lights on and off require so much start up energy that leaving them on all the time is more efficient. MYTH
